Heritage At Risk
The decline of the glass-making industry in St. Helens is a relatively recent occurrance, and yet the industry was of key importance to the development and economic viability of the town from the eighteenth century. Many of the physical remains of this industry have since been lost, placing an increased importance on those structures which survive.
Cannington Shaw’s No7 Bottle Shop is the last remnant of the former UGB glassworks, which survived the mass site clearance programme in 1982.
