New European Programme 2014-2020

For the new EU programme period UK Government has decided to “devolve” EU funding in England to LEP’s, and each LEP is required to produce an EU Investment Plan setting out how they propose to spend their EU funding allocation.
The Liverpool City Region EU Structural and Investment Funds Strategy (EU SIF) was submitted to Government on 31 January, 2014. It is aligned to the Liverpool City Region Growth Strategy.

The LEP also, at the request of Government, set up a Shadow Liverpool City Region ESIF Committee made up of a broad range of local partners, to oversee the development and delivery of the EU Programme across the City Region. LEP ESIF Committees will advise DCLG and DWP regarding the strategic fit of projects with local priorities and how they will deliver the priorities identified in the ESIF Strategy.
The first calls for projects have now been launched with Expressions of Interest for the EU 2014-2020 Programme being invited. The ESIF Pot includes money from the European Social Fund (ESF), European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
There are Calls for Projects under several strands including SME Support, Research and Innovation, SME Support (High Growth), SME Support (International Trade Performance), SME Support (Growth Potential of Manufacturers), Access to Employment, Low Carbon,

Wider Opportunities - These are targeted to the Liverpool City Region but there are also calls covering the Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire and Warrington areas aligned to their respective Local Enterprise Partnership areas.
